The Beauty Practice Elle Macpherson Never Did in Her 20s But LOVES Doing in Her 50s

In the late 80s, Elle Macpherson became a household name and one of the most in-demand models of her generation. She graced the cover of magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue (an impressive five times!), and went on to have a hugely successful career in film and television.

Now in her 50s, Elle is still as gorgeous as ever. But she’s also wise enough to know that beauty isn’t just about what you look like on the outside. It’s about how you feel on the inside, too. And that’s why she now makes sure to practice self-care on a regular basis – something she wishes she’d done more of in her 20s.

One of Elle’s favorite self-care practices is dry body brushing. “It helps with circulation, lymphatic drainage, and it just feels really good!” she says. She typically does it before showering, using a natural bristle brush to gently brush her skin in upward strokes.

Elle is also a big fan of face masks – another beauty practice she didn’t do enough of in her younger years. “I love putting on a face mask and just relaxing for 20 minutes or so,” she says. “It’s such a simple way to pamper yourself, but it makes such a difference in how my skin looks and feels.”

If there’s one beauty advice Elle would give to her younger self, it would be to focus on internal wellness as much as external appearance. “Of course I still want to look good – who doesn’t?! But I know now that true beauty comes from within. When you take care of yourself mentally and emotionally, it shows in your skin, your eyes…everything!
