While last year’s matte skin trend is definitely out, that doesn’t mean you can skimp on the primer — quite the opposite, in fact. “We’re using a lot of products to create that dewy skin look without making it too shiny,” said Del Castillo backstage at Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall 2023 show.
Here are some of his tips for getting the look:
-Start with a hydrating mist like MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ ($26) to give skin a dewy finish before applying foundation.
-Use an oil-free foundation like MAC Studio Sculpt SPF 15 ($30) to avoid shine but still get coverage.
-Conceal under-eye circles with MAC Pro Longwear Concealer ($22).
-To contour cheeks, use a bronzing powder like MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural ($33) along the hairline, jawline, and under cheekbones. Then add color back into cheeks with a blush like MAC Powder Blush in Peony Petal ($23).
-For lashes, use multiple coats of mascara and false eyelashes if needed (try Ardell Demi Wispies Lashes; $6).
