When asked what the biggest hair trend on the runway was this season, Ashley didn’t hesitate. “Hair accessories are definitely back,” she said, “and they’re bigger and better than ever.” She went on to explain that while last year’s hair accessories were all about the delicate and dainty, this year’s are all about making a statement. “Think over-sized flowers, feathers, and even jeweled headbands,” she said. “Anything goes, as long as it makes you feel fabulous.”
Another big trend Ashley mentioned was the return of the bob. “We’re seeing a lot of shorter styles on the runway this season,” she said, “and the bob is definitely leading the pack.” She went on to say that while last year’s bobs were all about sleek and straight, this year’s are a bit more relaxed and tousled. “Think beachy waves or even loose curls,” she said. “The key is to keep it looking effortless.”
When asked about color trends, Ashley explained that while last year was all about natural hues, this year is about being a bit more daring. “We’re seeing a lot of bolder colors on the runway this season,” she said. “Think reds, oranges, and even purples.” She went on to say that if you’re not ready to take the plunge with a new color, you can always add a few highlights or lowlights to give your hair some extra dimension.
Interview with Ashley Javier, hairstylist
What’s your favorite hair trend for fall?
I really like the edgy, tousled look that’s popular right now. It’s a great way to add some personality to your look without being too over-the-top.
How would you describe the perfect fall hairstyle?
I think the perfect fall hairstyle should be effortless and easy to wear. It should also be able to transition from day to night with just a few simple tweaks.
What are your must-have products for achieving the perfect fall hairstyle?
I always start with a good volumizing shampoo and conditioner to give my hair some extra body and texture. Then I use a root booster or mousse to help create lift at the roots. For styling, I like to use a gel or pomade to add definition and hold. And finally, I always finish with a hairspray to help keep everything in place.
