Guide On Bridal Make-Up By Artist Tanvi Marathe

Uber cool of the new school of makeup artists. Her work is all about inclusivity and self-expression, with a focus on natural beauty. Here, she gives us her top tips for nailing your bridal makeup, whether you’re a bride-to-be or just looking to up your game for a special occasion.

1. Go for a glow

“My number one tip for bridal makeup is to go for a glow,” says Marathe. “It’s all about skin that looks healthy and happy.” To get the look, she recommends using a foundation or tinted moisturiser with built-in SPF (“this is key!”) and then adding a touch of highlight to the high points of the face. “I like to use a liquid highlight, like the Nars Illuminator in Copacabana,” she says. “Just a few drops will give you a nice, natural-looking glow.”

2. Keep it soft

When it comes to eyes, Marathe says to keep things soft and romantic. “I love using a champagne or gold eyeshadow all over the lid, with a bit of brown in the crease to add some depth,” she says. “And then I like to finish with a soft black eyeliner and lots of mascara.”

3. Go bold with lips

For lips, Marathe says it’s all about going bold. “I love a bright red lip, or even a pink or purple,” she says. “It really makes a statement.” If you’re not used to wearing bright lipstick, she recommends starting with a lip pencil in your chosen shade and then filling in your lips with the pencil before applying your lipstick on top. “This will help the colour last longer and prevent it from bleeding,” she says.

4. Set your makeup

Once you’re happy with your makeup, it’s important to set it so that it lasts all day (and night!). Marathe recommends using a setting powder under the eyes to prevent creasing and a setting spray all over the face to help your makeup stay in place. “I like the MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ setting spray,” she says. “Just give your face a few spritzes and you’re good to go!”
